HOW TO GET TO THE ISLAND short guide
1. FIRST THING’S FIRST!
If you want to come to the 3 SMOKED OLIVES ISLAND FESTIVAL, please dig up your birth certificate out of your back pocket or hidden closet and check if you have at least the minimum age, which is 21+ years old.
If by any chance you don’t remember were you put it or you have no clue about how old you are, feel free to contact one of your family members. When was the last time you talked to your mom?
At the gate we will ask for your ID. Please stay home if you don’t have the minimum age.
2.1. CHOOSE A TRAVEL OPTION
There are plenty of options to choose from, after you’ve completed the first step indicated above.
From Romania: first you have to arrive to CALARASI. You can get there by train // bus // minibus and from there on you have to take the bus found in front of the County Hospital to Chiciu Forest ( 3lei per ticket ) – #3SOF2018 gate.The ISLAND is only a boat ride away.
From Bulgaria: you have to take the ferryboat from Silistra to Chiciu and after that, a 5 minutes walk till the #3SOF2017 gate.
From Romania: you have to take the DN3 road // from Calarasi, follow the Chiciului Highway through the Calarasi Forest till the #3SOF2018 gate.
From Bulgaria: you have to take the ferryboat from Silistra to Chiciu and after that, a 3 minutes road till the #3SOF2018 gate.

We encourage you to “grab” some friends and share an airplane // train // bus // minibus// minivan // bike or a personal car. You can find some Smoked Olives islanders buddies here.
2.2. Coming to the festival from outside Romania
Bucharest is the capital of Romania and the main entry point in the country. The festival takes place on an island near the town of Călărași which is 130 km away from Bucharest, most of them being on the A2 highway connecting Bucharest to Constanța.
The “Henri Coandă” International Airport in Bucharest is the largest airport in Romania and a main air travel hub in the region. From the airport you can rent a car to go directly to the festival premises by following A2 highway to Călărași.
You can also transfer yourself to the main train station in Bucharest, called North Railway Station ori Bucuresti Nord. Take bus number 780 from the airport to the station. One way ticket is about 2 euro. From there you can take the train to Călărași Sud (via a short stop in Ciulnița). For more information please check the timetables on the website of CFR, the Romanian railway company. The price for a round trip is about 20 euro.
If from Bucharest airport you want to take the bus to Călărași, there are are several bus stations in Bucharest you can choose from. For more information about the timetables and location please check www.autogari.ro You can transfer from the airport to the city center by taking bus 783, one way ticket about 2 euro.
If you are coming to the festival entering from Bulgaria you need to reach the town of Silistra near the Romanian border which is on the other side of the Danube and very close to the festival premises.
2.3. Car sharing
Here is the facebook official event page. Just post on the event wall and ask the other islanders to share their car with you.
3. AND FINALLY – THE #3SOF2018 GATE
Leave your “shoes” // bike // car // minibus in the parking lot and go through the GATE FILTERS where we’re gonna ask for your ID (21+), you will pass face control and we will check your luggage for food & alcohol. After that you will take the boat.
*for each boat ride from or to the ISLAND, the fee is 2,5eur/crossing
*for safety reasons you must only use our 3SOF branded boats, the other boats won’t be allowed to get to the ISLAND and you’ll have to return to the gate and pay another ride!
*check the boats schedule before you start your ISLAND trip; for safety reasons, the boats will be available until 21:00 each day!
For those of you coming from other countries, the ISLAND is accessible trough Romania or Bulgaria.
How you choose to travel to the ISLAND matters, and it will be an extraordinary trip for all of you!
